I didn't make it to church tonight because I had a bad case of heat
stroke. I've been spending my evening
watching season 1 of 24 and eating pepperoni. I thought I'd share
a pic so you all would know how much fun I'm having (sort of).
Friday, June 16, 2006

From a Howard Dean web site: (emphasis mine)
Senator Lieberman knows that Ned Lamont is for real. A few days ago,
Lieberman told reporters that he is refusing to rule out leaving the
Democratic Party to continue his run for re-election as an Independent.
In fact, he told reporters that he is not "going to close out any
options." While that's his
prerogative, it's still outrageous. Joe Lieberman seems to believe that
he is entitled to keep his Senate seat, and he's open to leaving the
party to do so.

The Connecticut primary is looking bad for the moderate
Lieberman. This web site, which appears to support Lieberman's
Democratic primary election opponent, Ned Lamont,
would have you believe that a primary election is the real thing.
I noticed the same error in a question at the WHPB today. The
reporter said, "the statistics of our poll show that the American
people disapprove of [such-and-such] policy. The people have clearly spoken,
will the President listen and respond?" The sad fact for these
liberals is that the only poll that matters is the one in November
every other year. The complete absence of vision and strong
leadership in the national Democratic party means that elections are
much further out of reach than day by day polls or even primary
elections (in which Democrats have been trending further left, rather than to the winning center).
But back to the Lieberman thing. It strikes me that Lieberman has
much more reason to leave the Democratic party than simply falling
behind in a primary. It is unfair to characterize his interest in
winning an election as "entitlement." Entitlement is voting yourself a $3,300 pay raise. Entitlement is DWK. Entitlement is not
making sacrifices and risking everything to serve your country and your
principles. If the Democrats are willing to throw Lieberman under
the bus to get a big lefty in there, why shouldn't he feel free to
leave the party?

In regards to the impact of an incumbent running as an independent, it
could do one of two things. One, it could give the Republicans
the chance to divide the Democrats in half and win the senate seat, or
two, it could draw moderate Republicans to Lieberman to give him the
win, just as everyone's favorite* RINO governator achieved 60%+ by
drawing from both major parties. A possible third option is that
Lieberman withdraws and a moderate Republican beats out Lamont (this is
Connecticut, after all). Any way I look at it, it appears that
the Republicans have a strong chance of winning a seat, or at least
gaining a more friendly independent in the Senate.

Friday, June 16, 2006

well, my birthday is today. My dad and I planted stuff all day in

will illustrate for them that they have been fooled and America isn't
the bad guy after all. I hope that rather than being embarrassed
by the allegation Canadians can see through the deception and recognize
that the same deception is taking place in Guantanamo and Iraq.
When terrorist handbooks instruct captives to allege torture (torture
being something they don't mind actually doing to Westerners) it is
pretty hard to believe or find sympathy for the alleged victims.
I will file this story away and remind Canadians of it whenever they
start yammering about supposed American torture chambers. If
you're Evan Prouse I suggest you do the same :)
Tuesday, June 13, 2006

Some day I want to visit this pub and order one of these:
